I admit, I went crazy over new shoes because of Angelina Jolie. Now I’ve got a stack of nude shoes I don’t know where I’m going to use now that I feel that when I have them on, my feet are bare! (But that’s the point!)

Someone’s silly idea is turning into a real fashion accessory that’s not only cute to look at, it’s also mighty useful during rainy seasons. These colorful contraptions are called Shuella, the “umbrellas for your feet”. It keeps shoes clean and dry when the April showers start.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of product: Nordstrom Girl’s Shoes

Units: About 31,000

Importer: Nordstrom, of Seattle, Wash.

Hazard: Surface paint on the outer sole of these shoes contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recall includes six styles of Nordstrom-brand shoes for girls. “Clarice-Fab” flats are bone colored with a bow. “Eva-Fab” are bone colored T-strap sandals. “Fern-Fab” are ankle strap sandals sold in bone, pink, white, blue polka-dot or pink polka-dot. “Lilly-Fab” are fuchsia gingham ballerina flats with a bow. “Rita-Fab” are ankle strap dress shoes sold in ivory linen, pink linen, white linen, cafe satin, silver satin or white satin. “Vivi-Fab” are open-toe dress shoes in bone, white, green polka-dot, lavender polka-dot or yellow polka-dot. The shoes were sold in girls’ sizes 10 through big-kids 7. All shoes have an embossed “NORDSTROM” printed on the insole. Only the colors identified above are subject to the recall.

Sold exclusively at: Nordstrom stores nationwide from September 2006 through February 2009 for between about $35 and $45.

Remedy: Consumers should take the recalled shoes away from children immediately and return them to any Nordstrom store for a full refund or exchange.

Admittedly, this is the first time I’ve heard of a shoe clip and I don’t think I’m appalled at the idea. The clips work like hair clips in that they are something you add to a plain shoe for design, color and effect. In other words, it something that makes shoes extra pretty.
