PVC Less Shower Curtain from Lavish & Lime

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

daisy

The thing about PVC made shower curtains is that it leaves an awful stench in the bathroom. It also gathers molds and mildew faster than anything. If you’re conscious of what this does to your environment, you would do well to leave this type of product alone.

Now, as an alternative, you could get one of those non-PVC made shower curtains.  Lavish & Lime carries a few selection for about $20, which is quite a good price, I should say.

Philippe Starck’s 50th Anniversary Barbie Chair

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

The iconic plastic doll we grew up with has turned 50 years old and to celebrate that, Philippe Starck has designed a special limited edition chair in honor of her.

Barbie_Ghost_Chair

As anything Barbie, this Lulu Ghost chair comes in pretty pink. Making it transparent has a very mod and stylish effect, Philippe Starck does know her style and image! It looks very vintage but still very, very beautiful, right?

The chair carries a price tag of whopping $270, so yes, this is definitely not a toy for young girls, it is an actual furniture. But you can still get a smaller version of this for $100, for the kids to enjoy.

A House Of Sponge

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

bandeauscotchbrite3

This seems to be something kids can play with more than a cleaning agent.

These sponges are cut and shaped into rooms in the house, so that one doesn’t forget which sponge goes to what item when cleaning. The sponges are color-coded as well.

This product is actually designed by Scotch Brite, I’m sure you’re familiar with it. Many households use a Scotch Brite product one way or another.

  • At the time of its 50 years, the mark Scotch tape-Brite™ presents “the sponge House”, a set of cleaning created by the 5.5 Designers. Everyone is one day asked whether the sponge which it was using were well intended with use which it was making some. With this set of cleaning, doubtful confusions do not exist any more. Each sponge functions as a pictogram which identifies and recalls us what it must clean. The variety of the matters and colors Brite the Scotch tape are thus revealed in this sponge collection thought for all the uses: the green fluo for the sink, blue for the bath-tub, it pink for the WC, orange for the crockery and the green for the pans. Into rupture with the code of traditional rectangular sponge, these new forms change the statute of sponge to make of them genuine accessories of house which take seat in each part of the habitat.

It is only sold in France, but we’re hoping it becomes available worldwide.

SP08_184087_W

Alright, is less than three weeks to Christmas and you still haven’t found the perfect gift for your mom-in-law?

Drown Away Noises with Ecotones

Friday, November 14th, 2008

ecotones

Here’s a holiday gift suggestion…

If you live in a noisy neighborhood, such as in the bustling city of New York, it’s hard to sometimes get the peace and quiet you’d like for your family. The city is full of loud neighbors and busy streets. But you can drown away all these noises with a more pleasant sound, using the Ecotones. It’s a device that helps diffuse annoying noises with the soothing and calming effect of rain, for example.

The Ecotones is a sound therapy machine that also helps with sleeping. It works in three ways:

  • Adaptive - The Adaptive Mode is the most effective mode for masking irritating noises.  In this mode, Ecotones listens to the sounds around you and tailors its response to blend the noise into a tranquil SoundStory.
  • Background - The Background Mode generates a pleasant background atmosphere as the sound level in your surroundings drops.  In this mode, Ecotones reduces its volume in response to a telephone ringing or to the sound of conversation and resumes normal volume as the room becomes quiet.
  • Manual - The Manual Mode lets you select a constant volume level.  In this mode, Ecotones listens to the sounds around you and creates an ever changing SoundStory at a fixed volume.

Specifications:

  • Audio Quality 18-bit high-fidelity
  • Dimensions (w/h/d)  6.125″ x 7.5″ x 5.5″
  • Speakers    3″ woofer, 1″ tweeter
  • Case Volume    2.4 liter
  • Frequency Range     90 Hz - 20,000 Hz
  • Weight    3.5 lbs (1.6 kg)
  • Sleep Timer    Up to 120 minutes
