Pica Pica

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

The whole found-object movement, coupled with the recycled paper movement, has totally swept me up, so it should come as no suprise that I’m in love with Pica Pica.

Take, for example, this “library card necklace”. Repurposing old-school library cards has never been so fun!

Or this “stamp collector necklace”, which combines the whimsy and discipline of stamp-collecting!

My favorite piece, however, is this “san fransisco bowl”, made from an old map of this amazing city! Head on over to Pica Pica’s site for more whimsical and one-of-a-kind pieces like these!

Gerbera Designs

arghmatey_shoulder.jpg

Gerbera Designs is this great online shop that specializes in great bags and IPod cozies. But don’t think that’s the only thing this shop specializes in. They’ve got hair pins and more for your non-bag related needs! Plus, should you see something you want but can’t quite pick up immediately, you can set up a wishlist! That’s my kind of shopping!

Blissen

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Have you met Blissen yet? It’s one of my favorite online stores, if only for eye candy alone. And by eye candy, I mean of the notecard and notebook variety!

Take this notebook, for example. Totally reasonably priced, and just plain gorgeous.

Or these notecards. Because seriously? I need to own both of these things. And every time I head back to Blissen’s website, I find more and more amazing things I didn’t see the last time.

Liza Rietz Designs

cloche.jpg

Good lord I love this shop! Liza Rietz sells everything from amazing cloche hats, to kimono jackets and amazing jumpers! Some of the items can be a little pricier, but all are well worth it, as they’re incredibly well made. And just plain gorgeous!

Selling items since 2001, Liza’s clothes have been featured in boutiques everywhere from Portland to Seattle to Los Angeles and Washington DC! Made from all-natural items such as cotton, linen and even bamboo, you can feel good wearing such Earth-friendly items, and knowing that each season’s designs are made in small runs, your clothes will be not only beautiful and comfortable but all-but one of a kind!

Morris + Essex

feather-cards.jpg

I find I send out more card when they’re blank on the inside, rather than having a huge stack of cards for “all occasions. Because they’re never really right for the occasion. And so I’m always on the lookout for new cards to send out. Etsy has become a fabulous resource for this, with so many amazing card designers I never seem to see the same design twice!

Morris + Essex is just such a card designer. With designs that are clean and modern, I can see myself using every one of their designs for just about everyone I know. Which is key for me. I need to know that I can grab a card at random from my box of greeting cards and not have to worry about it being appropriate for the soon-to-be recipient!

Classic Work Fashion From Ohnetitel

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

thumbnail18.jpg

While I currently work in an extremely casual work environment, I’m working towards a second degree that will have me back in schools (as a librarian!), and so I’m already looking towards the day when I’ll have to dress a little nicer.

Ohnetitel seems to have read my mind, as their spring/summer 2007 collection screams dressy yet casual chic to me. This all-black ensemble is my favorite, and hopefully soon dressing like this will be an everyday affair for me. Hopefully I can pull of the wide leg pants even though I’m barely five feet tall! What do you think of classic looks like this?

Head on over to Shoeboxers, where you can find the perfect pair of stilletos to match your new all-black work ensemble!

Hayden-Harnett Handbag Love

shoulder_stripe.jpg

I’ve already started my search for the perfect bag for spring, and I think I hit the jackpot. Hayden-Harnett has an entire section on their website devoted to gems like the one above, and thank goodness their prices are more reasonable than most designer bags, because I want several!

Can’t afford one of their purses? Head on over to their accessories section, where their wallets and clutches fall well within most people’s budgets, and are super cute!

Not sure if you love the tunic look still? Check out Paris Hilton in a version of a dress two other celebs wore back in September over at Style Fix and see if that doesn’t help you make up your mind!

Personalized Notepads, Business Cards, Stickers, Greeting Cards & More

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

I have a new favorite place on the web.  It’s part shopping portal, part boredom buster and part dressing room.    Here’s how it works.  You create an avatar (of sorts) that looks just like you…(okay, *almost* like you).  You choose the clothing, the hairstyle the accessories and the shoes.

Imagine trying on and endless number of shoes.  Needless to say, it is a bit addictive.

I just created a "gal" that looks like me - complete with red sneaks and a messy ponytail…only 10+ pounds thinner.  =)

You can use your "mini-you" in a variety of ways.  You can send a greeting card, create a t-shirt, promote your business, send an e-card, or even join a virtual walk to support breast cancer victims.

You can also create your own personalized holiday greeting cards.

You can grab your own "mini-me" by visiting the site - designhergals.com. Check it out and let us know what you created in the comments section

Gotta Deal Yet? Visit Gotta Deal.com for Live Black Friday Updates

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

First of all, I hope you all had a wonderful…and relaxing Thanksgiving Day.

Now, it’s time to get busy!  Like many of you, I spent most of the day perusing the pile of Black Friday ads.  I have to admit, I *almost* decided to camp out a Best Buy to grab the $200 computer that everyone else is standing in line for as we speak

It was tempting - until I stepped outside to bid farewell to my sister (who is heading to Kohls at 4am…yikes!)

I am currently visiting my family in Minnesota where it is 17 degrees outside.. Frankly, a cheap computer isn’t worth risking freezer bitten toes and fingers.

Since I can’t stand missing out on the shopping frenzy, I have been sitting on the couch with my laptop frantically searching for a few more online steals and deals.

I just found an online Black Friday forum where online shoppers are sharing (and bragging about) all of their online shopping conquests.

Check it out.  It is a lot of fun and shoppers are offering "up to the minute" sale alerts.  (Don’t forget to click "refresh" on a regular basis!)
